The “How Do I Start Blogging?” Question
I was hanging out with some friend of mine at a dinning place, and a friend asked me the “What is a Blog?”, “What is RSS?” and “How do I start blogging?” questions. Actually they asked a little bit more than that, but they wanted to know how to start a blog, how to get traffic, and how to make money. I tried to answer those questions like i wrote them here and here.
I told them that i started blogging because it was something sounded like fun. I didn’t start because I wanted to make money, I just enjoyed writing about things that i’m interested with, like gadgets or cellphones, or something like that.
The “How to Make Money?” Question
This blog might make a little bit of money, but not much. My point is that you shouldn’t start blogging because there is money involved. The amount of work you’ll put into your blog may not be worth the amount of money you’ll make from it. Though some people make thousands of dollars from blogging. But they don’t get there overnight.
The “How to get Traffic?” Question
And If you want traffic, write something unique. It’s a simple formula really. It doesn’t take years of work to get traffic if you’re writing about things people want to read about. TechCrunch is in the Technorati Top 100 after just 8 months. Why? Michael writes about Web 2.0 topics with passion and he writes well. He has unique content and it can’t be found anywhere else. If you can’t make unique content you won’t get any traffic, it’s that simple.
Start Blogging
If you know what you want to write about and start blogging, start with something you enjoy and like. Well, atleast, something that also interested for other people. If you’re going to write about your personal life, it better be pretty damn exciting, because most people don’t care what you ate for dinner.
